Beverly Hills Presents 2009-2010 Budget Outlook
City Council to Hold Study Sessions to Discuss Municipal Budget

Beverly Hills, CA – The City of Beverly Hills will begin its public review of the fiscal year 2009-2010 budget process this month, with three public study sessions designed to discuss funding options, potential budget cuts and priorities for the City Council.

The City’s budget reflects the community’s priorities and impacts every resident, business and visitor. The budget affects how public safety, parks, roads, sanitation, parking and services are funded and maintained for the community. Cities are required by law to have a balanced budget.

The City’s budget process and funding options will be discussed at the following meetings:
• April 7th - Overview of budget process, fiscal management principles and efficiency measures already implemented
• April 14th - Discussion of economic climate in Beverly Hills, budget projections for the coming year, and departmental presentations on possible budget reduction scenarios
• April 21st - Final presentations and Council discussion of budget funding options

The Tuesday, April 7 meeting will begin at 2:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers.

*Meeting times and dates are subject to change. Please check the City calendar for updated information.

Based on feedback from these meetings, a budget proposal will be presented to the Council in May, with an expected decision in June to adopt a budget for the next fiscal year, which starts July 1, 2009.
