City of Beverly Hills Installs New Mayor and Vice Mayor
Mayor Nancy Krasne and Vice Mayor Jimmy Delshad Take Oath of Office

Beverly Hills, CA – The City of Beverly Hills installed the Honorable Nancy Krasne as the 84th Mayor of the City. The current City Council formally certified the results of the general municipal election conducted on March 3, 2009. The new City Council then took the oath of office with a community installation ceremony to take place on Tuesday, March 31, 2009. The Honorable Jimmy Delshad, a member of the Beverly Hills City Council since 2003, was sworn in as Vice Mayor. Other members of the City Council include the former Mayor Barry Brucker, and newly elected councilmembers Honorable William Warren Brien, M.D. and Honorable John Mirisch. The Honorable Eliot Finkel will be sworn in to his second term as City Treasurer on March 31.

The five members of the City Council are elected to four-year terms and the position of mayor is rotated annually among the Councilmembers. The mayor serves as the presiding officer and acts as Chair at all City Council meetings, is the spokesperson for the City Council and is the City’s ceremonial representative at public events and functions. Originally elected to the City Council in May 2007, Mayor Krasne previously served as Chair and Vice Chair of the Architectural Commission and on the Planning Commission. A 35-year Beverly Hills area resident, Mrs. Krasne served as a board  member of the National Council of Jewish Women, and is past board member of the Los Angeles Child Guidance Clinic. She is currently first vice president of Friends of Greystone, a member of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art Costume Council, and the Beverly Hills Women's Club.

Mayor Krasne graduated from University High School and the University of California, Los Angeles. She went on to teach elementary school for 18 years in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

The community ceremony with reception will be held at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' Samuel Goldwyn Theater at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31st. The Academy venue is being provided for the City event at no charge. The ceremony is open to the public.
